MARATHON, Ontario – The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Gyori as the Vice Principal for Dorion Public School. The appointment is effective September 25, 2017.

 

Amanda began her teaching career in Windsor, Ontario area working as an occasional teacher in classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade twelve for several years. She then moved to La Loche, a remote Dene community in Northern Saskatchewan where she taught grade seven at La Loche Community High School.  Her career then took her to North Battleford, Saskatchewan where she spent five years teaching grades one and three at Connaught Community School.

 

Gyori holds a Bachelor of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in History and Political Science, both from the University of Windsor. She also holds a Masters degree in Education Leadership and Administration from the University of New Brunswick.

 

Upon her appointment Gyori said, “My family and I are thrilled to be returning to the North to join the Superior-Greenstone District School Board. I strongly believe that “small schools make a difference” and cannot wait to begin working and learning with the SGDSB community. 

 

Gyori’s depth of knowledge and passion for learning are attributes for which make her an excellent addition to the SGDSB team.   A favored educational quote of Gyori’s is from Helen Keller when she said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. Now together with the Superior-Greenstone District School Board, Gyori joins the mission to “inspire our students to succeed and make a difference”. 

 

Director of Education, David Tamblyn said it is a pleasure to welcome Amanda Gyori as member of the school administrative team. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Tamblyn extended congratulations to Gyori in her new role as Vice Principal of Dorion Public School.
