April 26, 2020 - Message from the Director of Education, Nicole Morden Cormier:
On Sunday, April 26, 2020, Minister of Education Lecce announced that schools in Ontario will continue to be closed until May 31, 2020. This decision has once again been based upon the advice from Dr. David Williams, the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the modelling of the data that has been provided with the ultimate goal of maintaining student safety.
In addition, the Minister of Education has indicated that all remaining Professional Activity Days (May 8 and June 5 for SGDSB) will be cancelled for the rest of the school year in order to maximize learning time for students.
The next announcement that will be provided by the Ministry will be the final update regarding the remainder of the school year. This does not include extending the school year, however optional summer programs that will be available to all students are currently being explored.
