SGDSB Announces New Superintendent of Education

MARATHON, Ontario – The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Flora Love-Jedruch as the new Superintendent of Education, effective October 1, 2024.  Flora brings with her over 12 years of experience as a Principal, having successfully led larger schools with a focus on fostering student success, staff collaboration, and cultivating inclusive educational environments.

 

In addition to her extensive leadership experience, Flora holds qualifications from the Supervisory Officer's Qualification Program (SOQP), further demonstrating her readiness and commitment to supporting the district in her new role.  Flora will be responsible for overseeing elementary schools and a variety of other portfolios within the Superior-Greenstone District School Board.

 

In response to her appointment, Flora expressed, "I am deeply honoured to join Superior-Greenstone District School Board as Superintendent.  It is a privilege to collaborate with a dedicated and passionate team that upholds student equity, academic achievement, and the well-being of students and staff as core pillars of their collective mission.  Together, we will strive to create an inclusive and thriving educational environment where every individual has the opportunity to succeed, feel valued, and find the joy in learning."

 

Flora's wealth of knowledge and proven leadership will be instrumental in the continued success and growth of the elementary programs across the district.  The SGDSB community is excited to welcome her to the senior leadership team.

 

At the same time, the School Board expresses its gratitude to Eric Fredrickson, the outgoing Superintendent of Education, who has been awarded a secondment with School Mental Health Ontario.  This opportunity will allow Eric to contribute to provincial initiatives in student mental health, leveraging his expertise and experience gained throughout his esteemed career and his time with SGDSB.
