New Principal Announced for Marathon High School
MARATHON, Ontario – The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Dean Burke as the new Principal of Marathon High School, bringing with him over a decade of exceptional leadership experience in the education sector.
Dean holds a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University and completed his Principal Qualification Program in 2016. His dedication to professional development is evident through his attainment of Special Education for Administrators qualifications in 2018 and Specialist qualifications in Mathematics in 2015. Additionally, Dean has pursued various relevant certifications, training, and courses, including Restorative Practices for Leaders, Special Education for Aboriginal Students, and Behavior Management Systems, showcasing his commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments.
Dean's journey in education began in 2009 at Holy Savior School in Marathon and Our Lady of Fatima School in Longlac. Over the years, he has advanced his leadership career, serving as Principal of Our Lady of Fatima School in Longlac, Principal of King Albert Public School in Lindsay, Ontario, and most recently, Principal of Gravenhurst Public School in Gravenhurst, Ontario.
Throughout his career, Dean has been recognized for his outstanding contributions and leadership impact. He has been honored with prestigious awards such as the Administrative Leadership Impact Award from Trillium Lakelands District School Board, the Shepherd Leadership Award from Superior North Catholic District School Board, and the System Advocate Award from Ontario Physical and Health Education Association (OPHEA).
