SGDSB Celebrates Several Leadership Transitions

MARATHON, Ontario – As the school year progresses, the Superior-Greenstone District School Board is thrilled to announce several significant administrative transitions, adding to the excitement of an already dynamic season of change.

 

The journey of transition began with the heart warming influx of new kindergarten registrations and the commencement of the second semester for secondary students. Building upon this momentum, the Superior-Greenstone District School Board is delighted to introduce key appointments that promise to further enrich their educational community.

 

Following an extensive and rigorous recruitment process, the School Board is proud to formally announce the appointment of Ms. Carole Leroux as the new Superintendent of Education. Carole's exceptional leadership qualities and unwavering dedication make her the perfect fit to steer their educational vision forward.  She stepped into this esteemed role on February 5, 2024, succeeding Will Goodman, who is transitioning to Director of Education on September 1, 2024.

 

In addition, the current Principal of Manitouwadge Public School, Ms. Tara Balog, has been appointed to assume Carole Leroux's former role as Assistant Superintendent as of February 1, 2024, bringing a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge to the table.  Her passion for education and commitment to student success make her a valuable addition to the leadership team.

 

 

In another exciting development, the Principal of Margaret Twomey Public School, Mr. Cameron Craig, will be transitioning to the role of Principal for Manitouwadge Public School on March 18, 2024.  He brings with him a wealth of experience and a dedication to nurturing a supportive learning environment for all.

 

Additionally, Principal of Marathon High School, Mr. Stephen Wilson, will now transfer to the Margaret Twomey Public School on March 18, 2024.  Wilson's visionary leadership and deep-rooted commitment to fostering a culture of excellence will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of Margaret Twomey Public School. 

 

The school board is thrilled to announce Mr. John Gordon as the new Interim Principal of Marathon High School for the remainder of the school year.  With his extensive experience and dedication to student success, they are confident he will lead the school with excellence.  This appointment showcases the Superior-Greenstone District School Board's dedication to acknowledging and fostering internal talent, in line with the goals outlined in their prior multi-year strategic plan.  Prioritizing the growth of talent from within remains a cornerstone of the school board's efforts, underscoring their pursuit of excellence and consistent leadership.
